You are very welcome at one of our regular Sunday services

9am:              Traditional service from the Book of Common Prayer

10.30am:    Morning Service

4pm:             Space for Prayer or Messy Church (each monthly – please check the calendar for dates)

6pm, or 4pm in winter:             Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer (usually 1st week of the month)  Please note – during the winter months, from November Evening Prayer will be at 4pm.

St James is a local church which aims to provide varied worship services to help different people connect with God.  Our regular service pattern has two morning services:

9am Traditional Worship services follow the Book of Common Prayer (1662) and alternate between a said Communion and Morning Prayer with an organ.

10.30am Morning Worship services are contemporary in style, with Communion on alternate weeks. These services use music provided by both a modern music group or organ. They use a data projector throughout (printed sheets are available). They are popular with young families, and children’s and young peoples groups run 2 or 3 times a month (see Church calendar for dates).  The first Sunday of each month is an all-age service.

We also have several other monthly services, please check the church calendar for when each will be happening over the next few months:

6pm or 4pm during the winter months from November, Book of Common Prayer Sung Evening Prayer Service (Monthly) is a traditional sung service using the BCP liturgy.

4pm Space for Prayer (Monthly) is an opportunity for quiet prayer and reflection as well as praying for issues around the world, local community and for ourselves.

4pm-6pm Messy Church (Monthly) is a fun, craft-based service in the parish centre for families with children aged up to 11yrs.  It includes crafts, games, a Bible story and songs and ends with a meal together.

6pm Encounter (6 times during 2017)  ‘Encounter’ is our new evening cafe-style service in the Parish Centre.  This service is different to our morning services in that it seeks to provide a more informal atmosphere and contemporary style of worship in which we can meet with God and go deeper in our discipleship. The idea is that when we encounter Jesus we are changed, so that He can use us to transform the world around us.

Dates for Encounter during 2017 are January 15th, March 12th, June 18th, September 17th, October 15th and November 19th.

If you’re not sure where you’d fit in best, give us a call (see contact page), or come along to our 10.30am service and we can tell you more about the variety of services in the life of the church.

We also have other services throughout the year including for special seasons (such as Christmas, Easter and Harvest) or particular occasions or reasons (such as Remembrance Sunday, or focused on the environment, world poverty, the Bible or homelessness).
