The Aims of St. James Woodside
To be a true expression of the Body of Christ:
Being a people who are happy to base their life, work and witness on
the bible
(knowing Jesus), and are committed to offer worship that is both
reverent and
pleasing to God and lively and edifying to man; concerned to build a
loving
worshipping community that will commend the gospel to others.
To fulfill the commands of Jesus Christ, to proclaim the gospel and make disciples:
(making Him known), as a corporate activity this task is done primarily
within the parish
boundaries of Woodside, but every member of the church should be
encouraged to see his or
her family, local neighbourhood and place of work as the mission field.
To work for justice and peace in the
local community and the world:
In a discourse with his disciples Jesus pointed out he had come to
serve and not to be served;
the spiritual, physicall, and emotional needs of mankind were the
concern of Jesus, and they
should be the concern of all Christians. Jesus had compassion for the
people, so should we!
To work in collaboration with other
churches and societies:
This requires both giving and receiving so that the gospel may be
proclaimed as Jesus
commanded, even to the end of the earth for this is the only way God's
Kingdom will be
established everywhere.
