St James is a church which welcomes all ages. Twice a month during 10.30am Sunday services (currently the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month during term-time), children of school-age and upwards go over to the parish centre part-way through the service for their own age-specific groups where they look at a story or theme from the Bible and have fun learning together.
We also have Messy Church in the afternoon from 4pm-6pm on the 4th Sunday of most months for families with children aged up to 11yrs old. Please see the Messy Church page for more information.
Babies and Preschoolers
We have a carpeted toddler area in the corner of our church with toys for the younger members of our church family. Families with young children are very welcome and should feel free to use the toddler area for some/all of the service.
During term-time Kids Church, for primary school-aged children, takes place in the parish centre during the 10.30am service. There is no Kids Church during all-age services on the 1st Sunday of each month or when Messy Church is on in the afternoon. When Kids Church is not on we aim to provide an activity for children at the back of the church during the normal service.
See and Know
On the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month during our 10.30am service our under 5s have a short story and activity time in the vestry with their parents or carers to hear some Bible stories and have fun together. On some occasions if one of the group leaders is away “See and Know” and “Kids Church” combine to form one group meeting in the parish centre.
If you would like to know any more information about children’s groups please feel free to ask.
